Iris takes her duties seriously, and she can come off as haughty simply because of her know-it-all demeanor. Having spent most of her life studying, Iris has a technical understanding of hospitality, but executes it with an awkward level of decorum. 

Despite her aloofness, Iris will always hold good to her word, and is a dependable worker and confidant.

Inwardly, Iris feels a lot of pressure to stand up to her magical upbringing and finds it difficult to unwind. Balance, patience and temperance have been hammered into her since she was a child, and so she's wary of emotional extremes, perhaps to a slightly neurotic degree. Unfamiliar with friendship, sharing feelings and personal details is unusual for her, and her attempts at socializing can be overly formal. Because of this, she finds it hard to open up or express herself.

She will not admit it, but Iris is afraid of ghosts, as well as the dark.


History: 

Iris grew up the only child of a human mother and Elven father. Her mother was an acolyte and her father a mage, and together they brought their daughter up emphasizing decorum and duty. They taught Iris about the natural balance of life and the elements, and that it was important to maintain this balance. 

Iris's life was fairly uneventful, filled with her magical studies and endless educational and historical tomes. 

When Iris turned 20 years of age, her parents announced that it was time the she prepared to venture out into the world. Twenty-one was an important age, they insisted, an age which she was to leave home and practice magic in earnest. Iris was taken aback, having become used to the predictability of her daily life, but dutifully acquiesced to her parents demands. 

Despite this, she procrastinated and could not find an adequate town or city to travel to all year.

That is, until a flyer came in the mail one day.. Thus, she stepped onto the train heading to Toffee Town.
